NC announces partnership with Americanafest

North Carolina will have a presence at the Americanafest in Nashville this September, officials announced Tuesday.

Americana Music Association Executive Director Jedd Hilly said the 20th annual Americanafest, planned Sept. 10-15 in Nashville, will feature two nights devoted to North Carolina music.

The announcement came as part of the Music at the Mansion series at the Governor's Executive Mansion in downtown Raleigh, which concluded with a performance by Chapel Hill duo Mandolin Orange.

The new partnership are part of the Come Hear North Carolina initiative, which aims to spotlight the state's roots in American music.

September is a busy month for music in the area.

Hopscotch Music Festival is Sept. 5-7 in downtown Raleigh. Headliners this year include Sleater-Kinney and Chvrches.

The World of Bluegrass, which includes conferences and a festival, is Sept. 24-28 in downtown Raleigh.

Jill Scott and Run D.M.C. will headline the Art of Cool Festival Sept. 27-29 in Durham.
